30 Days to Drop a Bad Spending Habit

by Corin Devaso

Have you ever heard someone say that money is power? In a distorted sense, it is. Money has been a powerful tool for good and evil for thousands of years; but in truth, money is just a particular currency that society has deemed valuable at the present moment; and that value fluctuates and changes. What makes money a dominant force in society is our ability to spend it when we have it – so a better way to say “money is power” may be “the spending of money is power.

Most people want the capacity to be in control, free, respected, admired, desired, and secure. In our modern world, the primary way to get this perceived power is by gaining enough money to spend unfettered and without hindrance. In other words, the more money a person has, or has access to, the greater the person’s spending power. People believe this spending power is necessary to find and keep happiness. This mindfulness program will help you to see differently.

In this book we define “bad spending habit” as: an unaware and frequent spending of money for the false purpose of gaining happiness. You can define this dependency any way you wish, as long as you recognize it as an unhealthy reliance on spending. This book is not meant to judge or criticize your money management skills; instead, it will help you to drop the adverse thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and dependency you have with regard to spending money. Remember, money is not the problem; the real problem involves your thought patterns, feelings, and dependency with regard to spending.

This mindfulness program involves 30 days of lessons and exercises to help you overcome ways of thinking that have kept you stuck in a bad spending habit.
